How to get to Cayo Santa Maria - BY CAR
If you’re traveling in Cuba with a rented car, here are the driving directions to get to Cayo Santa Maria:
From the Santa Clara Airport (travel time app. 90 minutes):
• When exiting the airport head East on road 311.
• Take Circuito Norte /Calle de los Camiones/Jose Marti.
• Continue to follow Circuito Norte (you will cross Camajuani, go around Remedios, and cross Caibarien).
• Take the Pedraplen to Cayo Santa Maria (causeway, 2 USD toll per car).
• You'll reach first Cayo Las Brujas (where the small Las Brujas airport is located), followed by Cayo Ensenachos (just after the Delfinario), and then Cayo Santa Maria.
From Havana (travel time app. 4 hours):
• Take Autopista Nacional (1) towards East (Santa Clara).
• In Santa Clara city take the Circunvalacion to go around the city.
• Take the Carretera a Camajuani / Circuito Norte.
• Continue to follow Circuito Norte (you will cross Camajuani, go around Remedios, and cross Caibarien).
• Take the Pedraplen to Cayo Santa Maria (causeway, 2 USD toll per car).
• You'll reach first Cayo Las Brujas (where the small Las Brujas airport is located), followed by Cayo Ensenachos (just after the Delfinario), and then Cayo Santa Maria.
Note that there’s a 2 USD toll (per car, per direction) to cross the Pedraplen (the 48-km causeway connecting the Cayos of Villa Clara to the main island of Cuba). The toll booth is located at the beginning of the pedraplen (Caibarien side).
